Two Sharks Honored as Santa Cruz Sentinel Scholar Athletes of the Year

They both may have already graduated, but Caroline Casper and Cooper Scherr are still collecting awards for their time as excellent student/athletes at St. Francis. This time they have been awarded the male and female Santa Cruz Sentinel Scholar Athletes of the Year.

Casper was undefeated in SCCAL tennis matches her entire four years at St. Francis and in 2013 and 2014 made her way to the quarterfinals of the CCS. Casper will be attending Pamona College in southern California and she received scholarships from the Young Ladies Institute and the Hellenic Institute.

Scherr was a three year member of the varsity basketball team for the Sharks and led the team to a 22-5 overall record for the 2014-15 season and the team's ninth straight trip to at least the CCS quarterfinals. Scherr collected many awards such as being name National Honor Society President and joined fellow Shark Isabella Shahmirza as a CCS Scholar Athlete. Scherr was accepted into the Johnson Scholars Program at Santa Clara University where he will attend in the fall, which only accepts ten incoming freshmen students each year.

Congratulations to Caroline and Cooper as they have been model Sharks for future generations to come. We will miss you and wish you the best of luck as you go onto college! Go Sharks!
