Campus Ministry Department extends religion beyond the classroom, emphasizing reflection and Christian action through the Campus Service Program (CSP).
CSP Highlights:
- Students initiate service hours from freshman year, aiming for 20 hours annually, totaling 80 hours before graduation.
- Service must benefit the community at large.
- Failure to meet yearly requirements may impact year-end events and Theology semester grades.
- CSP aims to integrate Catholic Social Teachings, moral values, and community engagement.
CSP Focus by Grade:
- Theology 9: 20 hours by the end of Freshman year, covering 3-4 areas of need.
- Theology 10: 20 hours by the end of Sophomore year, focusing on 2-3 areas of need.
- Theology 11: 20 hours by the end of Junior year, with a social justice emphasis.
- Theology 12: 20 hours by graduation, dedicated to one agency or focus area, with monthly reflections and a final project.
Service Opportunities:
- Posted on H33 classroom door and websites like volunteermatch.org and scvolunteercenter.org.
- Non-profit, church, or school settings are acceptable.
- Projects must be unpaid and benefit individuals or groups outside the school.
Examples of Service Projects:
- Working in food centers, hospitals, or convalescent homes
- Tutoring students, reading to the sight-impaired
- Assisting in religious education or coaching elementary school teams
- Contributing to community cleanup or helping at animal shelters
- Serving at parish masses or participating in civic groups.
