PAST VIRTUAL PERFORMANCES
In March of 2020, when the nation shut down from the Covid pandemic, the performing arts classes rallied to produce a handful of virtual performances with the goal of keeping spirits up and showcasing student efforts from the year. Below you will see performances from the cast of "The Addams Family", the Concert Choir, the Concert Band, and the school's participation in the April 30th Lean on Me challenge. Enjoy!
On April 30th, the world came together to celebrate the "Lean on Us Day of Gratitude" and share various performances of the infamous song, Lean on Me. Our own school, led by members of the Music Ministry and Performing Arts Classes came together to create our own performance of Bill Withers' classic hit. It was featured as the gathering song for the Virtual Baccalaureate Mass on May 29th.
The Covid-19 crisis forced the school community to forgo most all activities for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. Amid this crisis, a couple of students were able to record a special song to honor the senior class and remind them to keep their heads held high. This video of "The Climb," by Miley Cyrus was featured at the Virtual Baccalaureate Mass on May 29th.
Sadly, the Spring Musical, "The Addams Family" was not able to be presented this year. As a way of honoring the work of the cast and crew, the cast came together to sing and dance the hit song, "When You're An Addams" for the community. This song was not able to be featured at the virtual graduation ceremony due to technical difficulties. Here it is for your enjoyment!
Students from the Concert Choir class spent the month of May developing their skills in singing and audio-recording to create a Virtual Performance of the choral song "The Old Mill" by Kenneth Riggs. Usually, at the Annual Concert on the Green, the choir showcases 8-10 songs that have been performed throughout the year. Due to the difficulties of distance learning the choir worked to develop one song that they could share with the community. "The Old Mill" was featured at the Virtual Graduation Ceremony on May 30th.
The St. Francis Wind Ensemble was introduced this past school year. Combined with the drum line the school now has a budding concert band program. Over 80% of these students have never played an instrument before and stepped up the the challenges of playing music like professionals. The Concert Band was preparing for the annual concert on the green with the hit song "Low Rider" by War and spent their final school days of distance learning creating this virtual performance. This song was not able to be featured at the virtual graduation ceremony due to technical difficulties. Here it is for your enjoyment!
