From the Athletic Director

Dear St. Francis Families,

I hope all of our St. Francis families are having a great summer.

Our Spring Swing Golf Tournament is coming up on Friday, August 7th, 2020. Thank you to our parent volunteers and Spring Hills Golf Course for working with us to make sure we have a great tournament while staying within the county’s COVID-19 guidelines. Currently, under Phase 2.5, golf courses are open with specific guidelines; these continue to evolve, and we will make sure we comply with the current guidelines at the time of our event. We’re also working with the golf course to plan out the dinner portion of the event to stay within county guidelines.

This is our major fundraiser for all athletics, so please encourage all current, alumni, and future SF students and community members to participate in our tournament this year. This event helps offset the costs of coaching salaries, referee fees, and PCAL/CCS dues.
HERE IS THE LINK for the signup form; we hope to see you play, sponsor, or volunteer for this fun event!

Currently, we are offering summer sports camps including football, volleyball, cross country, and women’s and men’s basketball. We’re also looking at launching a tennis and/or cheer camp, too. Thanks to Mr. Lee for working with Santa Cruz County to make sure we’re working within county guidelines, Coach Kenny for all his work in setting up the facilities and Mrs. Sutherland and Coach Ausman for all their work in helping set this up. Current summer sports and leadership camp guidelines are on our website. The coaches and I have worked to make sure that there are groups for all of our students to join this summer. If you have any questions or concerns always feel free to contact me at [email protected] or call 831-724-5933 x 207.

Currently, our fall sports are scheduled to start on time and as planned. Most sports are formally planning to begin on Monday, August 10, 2020. For fall sports we offer women’s volleyball, women’s tennis, co-ed cross country, football, and cheerleading. Feel free to reach out to me if you’d like to get in contact with the coaches. If there are any changes from the CIF or CCS offices, we will let you know.

The volunteer signup online form will come out in mid/late July. Thank you all in advance as your help is critically important for the running of our paid gate entrances and concessions to provide a great game atmosphere for our student/athletes.

Lastly, we were hoping to do another St. Francis family/community night out at the San Jose Giants like we did last year, but with the minor league season being postponed indefinitely, we will most likely have to wait until next year. The San Jose Giants already have us signed up for the 2021 season so keep your arms loose for the Smash for Cash!

Go Sharks,
Mr. Adam Hazel
