Counseling Office

Dear St. Francis Families,

I hope you all are having a healthy and safe summer. I want to commend you for all the work you did last year. I know it was not easy to transition to Distance Learning, but you all have shown how resilient you are.  As we are prepping for the next academic year, I want to remind each class of the following:

Sophomores (Class of 2023)

My name is Ms. Gutierrez and I will be your new Counselor for the remainder of your high school years.  I have heard great things about you all and I am excited to work with you.

  1. Please be sure to review your summer assignments and start working on them. Note:  all will be due at the beginning of the academic year.
  2. Start practicing your SAT via Khan Academy.  I would recommend 15 minutes for each subject daily (Math & English)
  3. Start working on your resume via Naviance. Ms. Lemus shared your login information last year.  However, if you have any questions or have lost the information, please send me an email and I will share data with you. Note: if you were a recipient of any academic excellence awards, please put it on your resume.

Juniors (Class of 2022)

  1. Review and complete summer assignments
  2. Continue using Khan Academy- at least 30 minutes every day
  3. Start listing the 10-15 colleges you want to apply to and do virtual college tours (most colleges have the ability to showcase their schools virtually)
  4. Continue to update your resume via Naviance. Note: if you were a recipient of any academic excellence awards, please put it on your resume.

Seniors (Class of 2021)

  1. Review and complete summer assignments
  2. Register for the August and September SATs
  3. Complete our Rising Senior Profile and share with recommenders and Ms. Gutierrez
  4. Complete resume (via Naviance, if you haven't done so yet)
  5. Complete your college list if you haven't done so yet
  6. Start working your College Essays for UC's and Common Application
  7. Continue to practice your SAT via Khan Academy.

Have a great, safe, and healthy summer!

Ms. Gutierrez
