Tracksters Keep Impressing In SCCAL

The St. Francis varsity men's track & field team had wins in all field events, yet fell to San Lorenzo Valley 63 to 54 Thursday.
Senior Joey Maleta had three wins, pole vault, high jump, and long jump. He finished with a season best in the long jump of 18' 7". Classmate Clancy Ryan won shot put and discus with a season best throw of 112' 9".
Junior JohnAngelo Pezzini won the 300m hurdles and the triple jump with a leap of 37'11". Classmate Garret Saucedo racked up 6 points with three 2nd place finishes in the long jump, high jump, and a season-best in the triple jump with a 37' 4". Freshman Stefano Pezzini placed 2nd in the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles, while junior Jose Garcia placed 2nd in the 3200m. Freshman Sam Magno captured the bronze in the 300m hurdles.
On the women's side, the Sharks scored 39 points to San Lorenzo Valley's 63 points. The women were led by freshmen Tori Yamaoka with wins in the shot put, discus, long jump, and a 2nd in the 400m. Junior Briana Silva won the triple jump and had a season best in the 400m. Senior Lauren Price won the high jump at 4' 2". Junior Nicole Knego earned a 2nd in the high jump and long jump. Senior Kim Hammill had a season best in the 100m.
The Sharks will be back in action May 2nd for the SCCAL Track & Field Trials at Soquel High School at 2pm and on May 4th at the SCCAL Track Finals. Field Events are at 3pm and running events at 4pm, all at Soquel High School.
