In the opening round of the Santa Cruz JV Basketball tournament, The Lady Sharks faced a tough and talented Pioneer High School team. The Sharks started strong and jumped out to a 14-2 lead, but the chipped away at the lead and made the game close in the fourth quarter. Thanks to six big points in the last quarter by guard Megan Kelly and a huge three from Jackie Casillas, the Lady Sharks held on to win 34-32 and advance to semifinal round against the host team. Megan led all scores with 19 points and Mackensie Mitchell chipped in six points to seal the victory.
