Varsity Boys Track & Field beat Harbor

The Sharks Boys team beat the Pirates 48-44. Every athlete achieved career best & ten posted wins in their perspective events.

Three weeks after taking over the SF Freshmen All-Time record in the 800m. Braxton Rico added freshmen school-record-holder in the 1600m to his portfolio with a win in 4:47.62. In competition through April 13, Rico's 1600m time ranks No. 1 amongst 2014 SCCAL Freshmen. Rico won the 800m in 2:08.83 & the 3200m for three big wins for the Sharks.

Three career best came from Freshmen Taylor Gregg who won the 200m in 26.28 then placed 2nd in the 400m at 60.03. Angel Rico-Madriz, Nathaniel Ramos & Michael Sanchez teamed up with Gregg for an exciting race in the 1600m Relay. Rico-Madriz won the Shot Put & Discus while Ramos had a personal best in the Discus & 13’ in the Long Jump. Sanchez placed 2nd in the Triple Jump with a 36” career best. Senior, Jose Garcia won the 300 Hurdles in a career best & placed 2nd in the 3200m.

Rounding out the outstanding performances are Cati Bianchi’s win in the 1600m run & her career best. Tori Yamaoka, Perla Ornelas-Perez & Francis Camuso swept the discus 1st, 2nd & 3rd place with career best. Ornelas-Perez won the Shot Put with Yamaoka placing 2nd while both setting lifetime best. Every Trackster gave an exceptional performance for a team victory.

The Bill Kearney Invitational on April 19 at Hartnell College is next on the slate for the Sharks squad before gearing up for the Pacific Grove Invitational on April 26.
