St. Francis Alum Signs Professional Contract to Play American Football in Germany

St. Francis has had multiple student/athletes go onto play college football and now St. Francis has alum Chad Lucas signing a professional contract to play for the Saarland Hurricanes in Germany. The Saarland Hurricanes compete in the German Football League (GFL). The Hurricanes are in the top division of German football and will fly Lucas over this coming Spring to play Wide Receiver for the 2015 season.

Lucas was a three sport athlete at St. Francis and was a SCCAL All League Selection in football while helping St. Francis become the smallest school to ever reach the CCS playoffs in 2008 and 2009. Lucas went onto play football at the University of La Verne in Southern California where he was a four year stater at Wide Receiver for La Verne and earned his bachelors degree in 2014. In the fall of 2014 Lucas returned home to Watsonville and was an assistant football coach at St. Francis coaching the Wide Receivers and Defensive Backs while staying in shape preparing to continue playing. Congratulations Chad and everyone in the St. Francis family will be rooting for you and the Hurricanes to win the German Bowl!
