From the Coordinator of Youth Ministry

Thursday, April 6th, St. Francis will be hosting the 4th annual American Red Cross Blood Drive.  Students 16 years or older can sign up to donate.  All students who donate must have a permission slip.

The blood drive is not only for students.  We want to encourage parents, family members and neighbors to come and donate.  Our goal this year is to collect 50 pints.  To schedule an appointment visit “redcrossblood.org.  Sponsor code: SFHS Sharks

So why do we do this?  Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person-the gift of life. Despite medical and technological advances, blood cannot be made.  The only way to get blood is from donations from another person. Because blood has three different components, 1 pint of donated blood can help 3 different people.  The Red Cross states there is a need of approximately 36,000 units of red blood cells EACH DAY in the US.  This is why we host the blood drive--to bring awareness and to make a difference.
