Dear St. Francis Families,
I would like to thank all of you for participating in all of the Homecoming Week festivities. Students enjoyed daily themes and activities, special lunches, Powder Puff Football, the Homecoming Rally, Applebee’s Breakfast, Football Game, and the Homecoming Dance. What a great week! Thank you to the many students, parents, faculty, staff, and alumni who made this week special for the entire St. Francis community.
Below are upcoming updates/events for the month of October:
Student Activities Update
September 30 – VITA: This is a Freshmen only event and it is free! This event offers a true Salesian experience in an environment filled with friends, food, and fun. This event, led by upperclassmen, exemplifies St. John Bosco's Oratory. Please encourage your student to attend. S/he will build friendships for life and enjoy rally-style games led by Animas and other student leaders. The event starts at 1:00 pm and ends at 4:00 pm.
October 31 – Halloween Rally: Students will be able to dress up and compete in our costume contest! After the contest, they’ll be able to earn more Pre-B4P Spirit Points at the Halloween Rally!
November 4 – Themed Dance: Students just enjoyed the Homecoming Dance, but they don’t want to miss this one! The Events Committee is already planning the next dance, and it promises to be a memorable one! The last dance we set another school record for attendance and all had fun.
Student Life Update
Dress Code: As a reminder, the 2017-2018 Student-Family Handbook is available on our school website, and I encourage all students to continue to review it as we progress through the school year. The handbook provides students with information regarding our school’s philosophy, mission, general policies, dress code, discipline issues, student leadership, academic policies, and other pertinent items.
The Faculty and Staff identified at the start of the school year that we, as an entire school, need to be diligent with: 1) shaving for the young men; 2) skirt length for the ladies; and, 3) wearing the appropriate polo by both genders. It may seem that these are minor infractions, but our goal is to teach students how adhering to the dress code policy helps promote responsibility and citizenship - both of which are critically important life skills.
As mentioned before, I am here to serve all St. Francis High School students, parents, faculty, and, staff. I look forward to working with all community members to create a purposeful and enjoyable learning experience for all students.
