From the Athletics Director

Dear St. Francis Families,

We’ve had a great fall sports season as we approach playoffs. Currently every fall sport is in the mix for a postseason berth! The Fall sports awards night is set for Sunday November 5th at 5 pm in the Borina Athletic Center. There will be dinner provided with drinks and desert followed by awards for each team.
For upcoming playoff games we will not be able to honor any booster passes. The playoff games are CCS events so please bring money with you to the event.

Volleyball
Our volleyball team is making a strong push for a spot in the CCS Division V playoffs. The girls are fresh off of a win over SLV and a thrilling senior night win over Santa Cruz. The girls have an 18-9 overall record and are hoping to host a CCS playoff game at the Borina Athletic Center. Please check in at ww.stfrancishigh.net on the athletics page for playoff information so you can come out and watch our girls.

Football/Cheer
Your Sharks football team sits currently at 7-1 and 4-0 in MTAL Coastal division play. Due to the fires in Northern California the Sharks did have to postpone senior day that was scheduled for October 14th. The game has now been moved to November 10th a Friday night with JV at 5 pm and varsity at 7:30 pm at Watsonville High School. We also are asking for volunteers to work the ticket gate and concessions that evening for parent hours. Contact Athletic Director Adam Hazel at [email protected] to sign up for parent hours. Come out and cheer on your Sharks as they continue their push through the MTAL and hopefully onto the CCS playoffs.

Girls Tennis
Your St. Francis girls tennis team just wrapped up the regular season with a 7-0 win over Harbor on senior day. Three Sharks will represent us at the SCCAL tournament at Gabriella Gutierrez will compete in singles and a doubles team of Katherine Casper and Maya Talavera will compete in the doubles tournament. Good luck girls as we will be cheering you on!

Cross Country
The Sharks Cross Country team for boys and girls are making a strong push for the CCS meet. On the girls side Riley Croghan is burning up the trails as she was the top Lady Sharks at the Ken Thomas Invitational as she was first among Division V racers with a time of 19:14, a career best. Also James Young had the third fastest 2.8 mile time in history for St. Francis with a time of 16:43 and finished first in his race.
The Sharks will be traveling north to San Lorenzo Valley High School on Thursday, October 27th at 4pm for their last dual meet before the SCCAL Championships on November 1 at Pinto Lake County Park. Go Sharks!

Winter Sports
Believe it or not winter sports are about to begin practice on Monday October 30th. Winter sports that are offered are boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer and wrestling open to boys and girls. Students who come out for practice must have a valid physical, have taken the baseline concussion test and be academically eligible. Also students who are currently playing a fall sport you must finish the fall sport before you can begin your winter sport.

Thank you to all who came out to the winter sports parent meetings. If you were unable to make the meetings feel free to contact Athletic Director Adam Hazel at [email protected] for any winter sports questions.
