Dear St. Francis Families,
Welcome back to a new school year. I am excited to serve this community for another year as your Coordinator of Youth Ministry. Feel free to contact me anytime for questions regarding masses, retreats, theology classes on campus, or faith formation. It is best to contact me via email at [email protected].
The Salesian Province theme this year is Be Happy! Be Holy!
Below is an excerpt from our Rector Major on our theme:
God Calls us to holiness.
God Calls us to holiness.
1. Sacred Scripture invites us to be saints: "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect", and "Be holy, because I the Lord are holy" (Lev 11.44).
- Holiness is a gift, a mandate and a task. Holiness is for everyone because it corresponds to God's fundamental plan for us. To become saints is not to alienate oneself from oneself or to move away from one's own brothers, but to live oneself in an intense (and sometimes difficult) experience of communion.

Rector Major Update
We had been planning on a visit from our Salesian Rector Major, Angel Fernandez Artime also known as the 10th, successor of Don Bosco on September 14. Unfortunately, he encountered some challenges with his visa and was not allowed access to the United States. Unfortunately, with a heavy heart he had to cancel his plans. At this time there is no plan to reschedule.
Campus Ministry
We are blessed to have the following Sharks serve as the schools Campus Ministry team. This motivated team will be responsible for leading the faith life on our campus. Please pray for their leadership and strength in achieving these great tasks.
Seniors: Monica Colin, Maya Madrigal, Mathieu Morin, Matthew Randolph, & Emily Wells
Juniors: Angelica Castro, Emma Haro, Kalanie Hernandez, Madeline Kehoe, Raquel Moreno, Lawson Orradre, Ashley Raich, & Darlene Toscano
Christian Service Team
We have a new leadership committee on campus dedicated solely to the development and growth of community service to the great community. Traditionally St. Francis has chosen monthly service needs and has done fundraisers raising around $2000 per year for charities such as Katz Cancer Center, HERS Foundation, Catholic Relief Services, to name a few. With this new committee we will grow our service to include more “hands on” service opportunities. We welcome this new committee who will motivate and move our campus into action. Seniors: Domenic Cordova, Riley Croghan, Emily Garcia, & Julian Mendoza
Juniors: Gannon Janisch & Reina Martinez
Sophomores: Maureen Kelly, Valerie Moles, & Maggie O'Rourke

Grandparents Mass
We welcome all Grandparents and Grand-friends to join us for mass and lunch on September 7. A welcome will begin at 10:30. Mass will begin at 11:00 presided by Fr. David Ramirez. A catered lunch will be provided for all our guest starting at noon. Events end at 12:45. Please RSVP to our main office 724-5933.
Triduum
We need pastries, baked goods (store bought is fine), fruit or bottled waters (no brownies please) for Triduum Fun Day on Friday, September 14th.This is the last day St. Francis will be hosting around 800 students from different schools here on campus. This is a great way to get your service hours done. For every 2 dozen pastries, baked goods or 4 cases of water, you will earn one and one-half service hours.
You will need to drop off your items at the school office either on Thursday, September 13th in the afternoon or early morning (before 9am) on Friday, September 14th.
Please email Ms. Lina Silva at [email protected] if you plan on bringing any of the requested items and let her know the quantity you will bring. Also, please remember to put them on disposable trays or plates. No peanut butter food due to allergies.
Volunteers are needed for that day also. Please email or call Ms. Lina. We will begin at 8:30 am.
OnFire Nor Cal Jam
Our Campus Ministry Team will be attending OnFire Nor Cal Jam on September 15. This is a Dioceses of Northern California event held in Vallejo. It is a perfect way to kick off our youth ministries for 2018-2019. It will be a great day for prayer and inspiration!
