Please support our BINGO program as a volunteer and/or player. Due to COVID-19, we recently transitioned the Friday Night Bingo at Kennedy Youth Center – Our Lady Help of Christians Parish to the parking lot of St. Francis High School on Saturday afternoons. The St. Francis Bingo has been the largest annual tuition assistance fundraiser for a number of years and while sidelined for a few months due to the global pandemic, it is back and we anticipate another banner year! All students receive a tuition discount as a result of our St. Francis BINGO. Parents and friends of St. Francis, who dedicate themselves to fundraising in support of tuition assistance, run the program. Since the school’s inception, Bingo has raised more than $1.8 million dollars. Please contact Mr. Nick Guerrero if you are interested in working with people who are having a fun time supporting St. Francis and playing BINGO.
Who works BINGO?
All Freshman parents work Saturday Bingo. If you are a Freshman parent and you DO NOT receive need-based or merit-based tuition assistance, then you are expected to fulfill your annual service hours through BINGO first.
All parents of students receiving need-based or merit-based tuition assistance are expected to work BINGO. If you are a parent of a student that is receiving need-based or merit-based tuition assistance, then you are required to work BINGO in addition to your regular annual service hours.
All BINGO workers are scheduled to work their shifts by the school. A list of BINGO team members will be emailed to all BINGO volunteers. BINGO volunteers are encouraged to work the schedule provided by the school. In the rare instance that a volunteer needs to miss their scheduled BINGO event, the volunteer is encouraged to coordinate with other BINGO team members to ensure a replacement. All sign-ups are confirmed through Sign-Up Genius or by emailing Mr. Nick Guerrero.
Each Saturday of BINGO approximately than 70 cars and 140 players attend the St. Francis Parking Lot BINGO. At St. Francis, they enjoy the welcoming atmosphere, good company, good food and BINGO in a safe environment. It takes 25 volunteers each week for Saturday Parking Lot BINGO to succeed. There are several jobs that are important to a successful BINGO including:
Caller/Floor Manager/Verifiers/Games Assemblers/Sales/Stewardship/Accounting/Set-Up/Clean-Up
Shifts run four hours in length and there are two shifts per event. Spring and Summer month shifts run from 11 am to 7 pm, while Fall and Winter month shifts will run from 9 am to 5 pm. This is a fun group of people to work with and it has proven to be a pleasant evening to build community. Click on the link included in Nick Guerrero’s weekly emails to sign-up as a BINGO volunteer.
